And I believe Gandhi said vegetarianism was the reason why Indian people were suffering so. As I recall.

From what I could dig up Gandhi was a vegetarian for much of his life. Though he also grew up in a community where vegetarianism was common - a mere way of life for Hindu's at the time and currently.

Truth, many of the personalities you claim to be vegan have later denounced the whole concept. Gandhi even went so far to say that veganism is the reason why Indian people were suffering so much.
