Ingrid Newkirk 'batty...and certifiably insane'

Monday, May 31, 2010

US R&B SINGER KELIS has savaged both PETA and its founder Ingrid Newkirk after receiving a stinging letter from the lobby for the sin of wearing a fur hat.

The drama ignited the other week after the popular singer was spotted by the group wearing a tall Russian-style fur hat she labeled one of her favorites due to its ‘Cruella de Vil’ vibe.

The militant lobby then duly sent a harrassing letter.

But the singer hit out on her myspace blog speaking candidly on her feelings about the lobby's vegan agenda and its nutty founder Ingrid E Newkirk.

  • On PETA’s founder Ingrid Newkirk she states “She is completely batty…I mean certifiably insane!” Kelis takes issue with the fact that Newkirk is a diabetic who requires insulin (which is derived from laboratory pigs), suggesting that she is hypocritical since she champions animal rights and attacks animal abuse, except when “it can help” her.
  • On the animal rights organization choosing to use her as an example: “If u want to preach, do it about something worthwhile — don’t waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk.”
  • On her appreciation for fur: “It’s not just the look of fur. It’s warm as hell and feels glorious.” Kelis says that faux fur can’t compare, claiming that there’s “nothing luxurious about that.”
  • Regarding endangered animals, she says that she does “believe in the preservation of endangered species” and would totally understand PETA attacking her for wearing polar bear or orangutan fur, but explains that the animals she chooses to wear – such as chinchilla and mink – are commonly available rodents that she “would demand they be put to death anyway.”
  • On her meat-eating lifestyle: “I eat meat, and in fact my mouth salivates as I type the word meat!”
Reports Ecorazzi: 'In a final zinger, Kelis stated that anyone who “hate(s) the world so much (should) go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that’s mine on that!'

Southwest Airlines rejects PETA ad

Monday, May 24, 2010

VULGAR vegan lobby People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has had yet another advertisement pimping its vegan agenda rejected: this time by Southwest Airlines.

The ad, shown left, displays a 'security scan' of a woman in her underwear with the words, "Be Proud of Your Body Scan: Go Vegan."

Southwest rejected the ad which was submitted to its in-flight magazine Spirit, stating it was too provocative to run in the publication.

PETA Vice President Dan Matthews predictably rejected this.

This site has been unable to gauge whether the lobby reveals the amount of donor money it injects into creating failed advertising campaigns.

Wildlife documentaries infringe animals 'right to privacy'

Saturday, May 1, 2010

A NEW study released by the University of East Anglia in Britain has made a bizarre PETA-style claim: that wildlife documentary makers are infringing animals' rights to privacy by filming their most private and intimate moments on camera.

Film studies lecturer Brett Mills claims that footage of animals giving birth in their burrows or mating crosses an ethical line that film-makers should respect.

'We have an assumption that humans have some right to privacy, so why do we not assume that for other species, particularly when they are engaging in behavior that suggests they don't want to be seen?

'We can never really know if animals are giving consent (to being filmed), but they do often engage in forms of behavior which suggest they'd rather not encounter humans,' he said

But the BBC's natural history unit says that filming animal behavior results in minimal disruption to the animals and that studying them is crucial for wildlife conservation.

'Natural history films play a major role in spreading knowledge of their work. And understanding the world around is vital in the continuing endeavour to preserve our ecosystem,' it said.
