Monday, September 6, 2010

HOLLYWOOD BEAUTY Angelina Jolie has revealed that her secret to good health is a big juicy steak.

The Salt star had previously followed a vegan diet but now says it left her suffering from health problems.

'I joke that a big juicy steak is my beauty secret. But seriously, I love red meat,' she said.

'I was a vegan for a long time, and it nearly killed me. I found I was not getting enough nutrition.'

Celebrity chef 'gains weight' after PETA inspired diet

Sunday, September 5, 2010

CELEBRITY CHEF Robert St. John has said his month-long attempt to give up meat has resulted in him gaining weight - despite claims by animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that he would lose it.

The acclaimed chef from Hattiesburg Mississippi says he was 'inspired' to turn vegetarian after spying the notorious billboard erected by PETA in Florida last year that fat-shamed women.

'The impetus for the month-long lifestyle change was in response to a billboard campaign in Florida in which the controversial animal-rights outfit, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, posted a picture of a very large woman with the tagline, “Save the Whales, Lose the Blubber, Go Vegetarian,' he posted on his blog.

But the self-professed carnivore has said the novelty backfired.

'I didn’t lose any weight like the PETA billboard stated I would. I actually gained three pounds living as a vegetarian,' he said.

While the chef has now ostensibly reverted back to a traditional diet, a PETA blog entry on friday touted him as vegan with the disingenuous heading:

Robert St. John: Chef, Author, Restaurateur, Vegan.

Now you too can be hailed as a vegan for giving up meat and dairy for a month!
